Podcasting is Competitive Now
Are you ready to dominate your competition?
After being in the podcast industry for nearly 10 years, there has be a very clear revelation to me this year: Podcasting is competitive.
If you want to have a successful show, you need listeners choosing to listen to your show over the competition. People only listen to podcasts at a specific time of the day. its not like all of the hours they aren’t sleep go to listening to shows. No. Most people that listen to podcasts will tell you they have a certain time where they listen to different shows consistently. Podcast time could be during a workout, while cleaning or during long drives. I call this consumption time.
But the question is, how do you make your podcast the show they listen to during their consumption time? Messaging.
There are only two ways to get more listeners on your podcast. One strategy is big celebrity guests. You probably don’t have a contact list of connections so let’s focus on the realistic option, messaging.
When I say messaging, I mean a clear point of view on a specific topic that someone can benefit from. For a health podcast hosts, this could be about your belief in exercise. “Everyone needs to exercise to live a better life.” Another example could be a finance expert and their belief in budgeting. “Budget or broke, you choose.” (That’s lowkey an incredible slogan.)
The right messaging will help you connect with the right people. Every chance you get, you need to convey your point of view. Always put effort into connecting with your people.
Focus on fixing your messaging and your show will grow A LOT faster.
